Secondary school information for children transferring in 2025

Please find information below regarding your child’s transition from primary to secondary school in 2025. The information has been provided by the local authority and is designed to support you in the transition process.

See below for the presentation and information to explain the online application system and answer key questions. We will be holding a meeting for parents/carers on Thursday 2nd May 2025 at 3:330pm in Sapphire class followed by a virtual meeting at 5pm (see email for zoom details)

Some schools have selection tests. A full list of dates for selection tests for Barnet schools can be found attached. Please note that the deadline for registering for an aptitude place at Mill Hill County High School and Ashmole Academy, is Friday 10 May and Friday 17 May, respectively.

If you need help completing and submitting the eAdmissions form, we will be holding drop-in mornings in the Autumn term 2024. 

All applications must be submitted by 31st October 2023.

Secondary School Open Meetings for Prospective Parents and Students

One of the best ways to find out about what each of the different secondary schools offer and whether they are a good fit for your child is by visiting them.

Dates of open evenings will be available in due course.

You may need to book a place to attend some open evenings, tours or talks. More information on what the events will entail and how to book if necessary will be available on individual schools' websites.

Transition 2024

Children with additional needs

Thursday 16th May 2024 - Transition conference  

Are you a parent/carer of a child with additional needs? If so come and join us on Thursday 16 May 2024.

The Specialist Inclusion Services (SIS- BELS) would like to invite you to this Year’s Transition Conference- from Primary to Secondary School.

The Specialist Inclusion Team is holding a virtual transition conference for parents/carers of Y6 children with additional needs, with or without an EHCP, transferring to secondary school in September 2024/2025. Parent/carers of Y5 children with additional needs are very welcome too. 

If you would like to learn about ways to support your child/children transitioning from Primary to Secondary School and what to expect from schools as well as hearing from some of the professionals involved with your child, please sign up using the email address included in the attached flyer.

Virtual meeting for children with additional needs

Transition 2025

There will be a meeting for Year 5 parents on Thursday 2nd May 2024 to discuss the transition process for the next academic year. 

  • Face-to-face parent meeting - 3:330pm in Sapphire class
  • Virtual meeting - 5pm via Zoom (see link in email) 

Key information and messages about the secondary school transition process and the online eAdmissions form that needs to be completed will be shared at the meeting.
